There is a primeval nature about the Olympic coast that is enhanced by late evening light. We had had a grand day. It began with morning fog, then clouds. In the late afternoon the sky began to clear and a spectacular sunset ensued. As we sat by our campfire on Shi Shi Beach, the distant rocks of the point turned black against a fiery sky--a perfect backdrop to accompany the glowing sea, the percussive waves and the clean, pungent salt air.
