Only a few times can I recall going for a specific picture and actually getting it. At the north end of Rialto Beach there is a outcrop of rock known as Hole in the Wall. The view from the top is superb. So, this morning I made the trek up the beach to the spot and perched myself on top to watch for the moment. As I whiled away the hours, the boisterous water, buoyed by the tide, obliterated my tracks and then the beach. I was temporarily marooned. Then, as the afternoon wore on, the beach reappeared and the pounding waves arched gracefully around the cove below. Finally, the waning sun moved far enough north to light the backside of the sea stacks and the moment arrived. For once the sun, tide and sea all worked together to make the long wait worthwhile.
